Disable Headlight Washers? - Z4M
Is there an easy way to disable the headlight washers? I've lost two of the covers so far when those damn things pop up as the washer system activates. Then I have to buy a new cover, paint to match the car and clear coat. Rather a pain and I don't really see the benefit of the headlight washers.

I think I found the easiest solution. There are two washer pumps, one for the windshield and one for the headlight washers. I disconnected the electrical connection to the headlight washer one. Now to deal with getting a new cover, painting and clear coating it.

I coded mine out. Hated when it would spray washer fluid all over my hood when just trying to clean some dust off my windshield. Or worse, chance loosing the painted cover.
Disconnecting the connector may allow moisture/dust into the electrical contacts so I'd recommend either disable it via coding or pulling the fuse. |

Also found my post from over a decade ago saying that I needed to do this. Still do although I need to track a leak at the driver's side washer jet.

Finally got around to pulling that fuse. Works like a treat.
I do have one follow on question. Are the spots below the fuses, meant for spares?

The first time I had the front bumper off to replace the quarter-pizza-shaped left front under-engine cover piece, I removed the two pumps and all the plumbing, clamped off the hose coming from the washer bottle, and disconnected the cable to the headlight washer. Then I wired the two covers so they wouldn't come off ( didn't want to glue them to the bumper).
That's how I solved the problem.

Behind the glove box. There are a couple of tabs at the top that you have to release to get the glove box to swing down and reveal the fuse box. There are instructions in the owner's manual.
