Cool Damaged lower engine compartment cover.

I suffered some damage to the front lower engine comaprtment cover on my 2003 Z4 2.5i. I have removed the cover, and I'm wonderiong if I really need to replace it. Will I cause potential further problems by leaving this cover off?

Thanks

I haven't gotten underneath the ///M coupe yet, but on the E9x series the cover is meant to keep the engine compartment pretty "sealed". Water, dirt, etc. can certainly get in. All I can say is that if it were me I'd want to replace it. Check out Tisher for parts, I'm sure BMW at the Roseville AutoMaul would jack up the cost.

Someone else can chime in with more technically astute comments.

cuz our rides sit low and they usually get jacked up...just take a look youll see.....
I would buy a carbon fiber one if they made it...I would shell out like 400 to 500 for it....its worth it.

Mine had sustained some damage I was unaware of. Then at 90 mph, it came off, except for the last three fastners. Could have bee a much bigger problem.

Replace it. You will probably have to add the three fasteners under the front bumper as I did (also an '03 2.5i). The original just slid into position but the new ones fasten up front for a more secure fit. Easy job and like said previously worth it.
