Intake elbow question, E46 vs. E85

Does anyone have one of the following along with a M54 powered Z4?

E46 325Ci Coupe
E46 325i Touring
E46 325i Sedan
E46 330Ci Convertible
E46 330Ci Coupe
E46 330i Sedan
E46 330xi Sedan
Z3 Z3 3.0i Roadster
Z3 Z3 3.0i Coupe

I want to compare the two rubber intake boots from my 2003 3.0 to one of the above cars. There is a forum member on E46 fanatics that is having someone make custom silicone parts to replace the rubber accordion ones and I'm curious if they can be used on the M54 powered Z4.

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=742302

According to realoem.com the Z4 elbows have different part numbers than the E46 parts, but I'm hoping that's simply due to the sound generator on the Z4 which is something I can live without. Though I don't know why the second elbow would have a different part number then.

The Z4M has a PCV inlet on the elbow, the M3 version will not work unless an inlet is plumbed into the silicone boot.

I've got 07 3.0Si (N52) and would certainly be interested in something like this. The glued on resonance chambers for sound on the intake tube seem to be future air leaks.

can it be plumbed to the plenum as it is on the e46 M? I am doing a custom plenum project and was told to use the bimmer world boot and plumb the PCV to the plenum.

Absolutely, but you will need to perform this on your end as the piece is not Z4M specific. The only difference is the PCV inlet.

Any idea about the M54B30 version versus a like powered 330i?

I'll yank the intake tubes off when I get home tonight and post it on E46 fanatics to see if I can get an answer, but if someone knew before I started disconnecting things it'd be nice.

No, only the S54.

Great, thank you.

I have already purchaced the e46M piece withe the longer tubeing. I will have to reform it a bit with a heat gun, but the length is perfect.
