Hand brake is for sliding the back end around, not for parking.

The ///M is a manual car. The best way to "park" a manual car is to have it in a low gear (1 or R) with the hand brake pulled (unless you've recently been using the brakes hard in which case you absolutely should not add the hand brake). One should never completely rely on the hand brake for parking. So if you put all this together, how would remote-start work on a car that's in gear? -- it wouldn't.

And in relation to my original reply, because the hand brake shouldn't be relied upon for parking (I thought this was obvious, guess not), I made light that it's best use is for additional car control while moving -- watch this:

I still think on a level parked situation it would work. obviously this must be under the drivers best judgement of course. Not every situation would be a remote start spot.

I have a compustar remote start in mine. Works well. Most of the time I am parked on level ground so I do not see the issue of not putting it in gear when parked.

It is subtle. They needed to add some door pins to tell when the doors are closed, which are hard to see. I requested that they not install the LED. I put this in later. Other than that you have no idea its in there. It does not operate 100% as our cars use codes to send commands. Occasionally I will hit a button when exiting the vehicle. The car shuts off and tries to lock. Since the door is open the car does not allow the doors to lock but the alrm thinks it is locked. I then have to use the key fob then to lock the door when it is closed. Few minor glitches like this, but for the most part it works great and I am glad I got it done.
