Nitrogen in NJ?
I really hate this TPMS, every couple weeks due to the weather fluctuation that damn warning light comes on..So thats why I'm thinking to change to Nitrogen..I cannot find a place thats has the machine..
Costco has it, but only fills newly mounted tires with Nitrogen and will not deflate my tires and re-fill.. Does anyone know of any place that will do this in central jersey? |

I live in the NY Metro area and aren't experiencing any of the same problems. I've driven my car over the past 4 days when the temps have varied from 50+ to the low teens of this morning and no issues.
Are you observing your tire pressures varying that much because of the change in temps? You might just have one TPMS sensor that is faulty and causing the problem. |

Plus, you'll never be able to fill 100% nitrogen. #nitrogenscam

The atmosphere is already about 75% nitrogen and you will never remove all of the air out of the tire anyway so maybe you could go from 75% to 90% at best?

Re: TPMS warning light
Why not just eliminate the TPMS sensors altogether. I did and I have no issues, but I check my tire pressure on a monthly basis. When I put new wheels and tires on my Z , I eliminated the sensors and saved myself $200 that new ones would have cost.

Yes, it will be. I don't run sensors on my track rims and the light is on.
I think the BMW GTS1 tool or the dealer tool should be able to turn off the TPMS option on the car so it will not look for it. I can do that on VW's and Audi's using VAG-COM, but unf. don't have the equivalent BMW tool yet. |

While on the subject of the stuff in our tires, I'm reminded of a funny family story.
My Dad and his mother-in-law (my G'ma "Tessie") were never "thrilled" with each other. My G'ma was one tough cookie. She always knew how to push your button, just a very critical and annoying person most of the time. Dad must have really loved my Mom, because he often had Tess in the car and she just couldn't shut up. My Dad told me he once broke down on a Sunday, in bumper-to-bumper traffic on they way to some family function for my Mom that he in no way wanted to go to...and Tessie was in the car. Dad had the hood open, the distributor cap off and he was gettin' all hot and dirty (oh yeah, this was during Summer). Frustrated, he sits in the car to cool down and get out of the sun. Grandma Tessie leans in and says "did you check the tires? maybe you don't have fresh air in the tires!". Classic. |
