Datalogging
I've been looking through some datalogging recordings that I made a while back from my Z4MC from the ECU via the OBDII socket. The datalogger will record any of the PIDs (Parameter IDs) that the ECU will divulge. The Z4MC will simultaneously yield both Airflow Rate from the MAF but also Airflow Rate from a MAP as shown in the graph below. I am confused! Does the Z4MC have a MAP sensor and if so what is the part number and where is it situated? If not, I wonder what the datalogger is recording?

I was 99.9% sure that there's no MAP sensor on the Z4M. So what exactly is the datalogger reading from the Z4MC's ECU as "Airflow from MAP"? Other BMWs with S54 engines don't yield as much information from their ECUs and there's is no "Airflow from MAP" available on them.
As my graph shows, the plot from the MAP is similar to that from the MAF, but smoother (as if regulated) so it appears as if it must, in some way, be related to the airflow, but exactly what I'd like to find out? Last edited by exdos; 12-06-2012 at 02:53 PM.. |
