Strut tower bars breaking

Anyone else snapping these? This is the second strut support thats broken on my car. For clarity i am talking about the black bar that ties from the front strut to the firewall underhood

Wow. No. Maybe that is why it's why mine is called a strong strut.

Wow is right!
Post a pic?
Did this happen at the track, or on the 405?

Yep. The fastening points have broken on one or two as well. Not really common however.

Obviously, your car seems to be subject to greater than usual stress levels. I'd suggest you consider adding the cross strut bar for addl support.

There have been others who actually broke the support bars? I have heard of the mounting bracket coming loose(which makes sense at it is a relatively small attachment point compared to something like a strong strut) but never the bar itself.

I hit a huge ass Chicago pothole and broke the left side mounting point for the strut to firewall bar, along with mushrooming the rubber upper strut mount.

I ended up ordering this since it doesn't use the factory bar mounts on the top of the struts: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Z4-E85-F...25a9ba&vxp=mtr

I've been happy with it. Not as pretty (or expensive) as the strongstrut setup, but it seems to work well for my daily driver. Shipping was actually pretty fast as well.
