Talking Seattle to Austin - Roadtrip Route

Will be possibly driving from Seattle, WA to Austin, TX in a new car

Trying to plan out the best route, https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid...3343,43.286133
LMK any ideas you guys have!

Started off with a projected 34 hrs. and ~2100 miles... Now it's at 2,509 miles and 46 hours

Detours
1. Wallowa Mountain Loop
2. Bonneville Salt Flats
3. Arches Nat'l Park / Moab
4. San Juan Skyway
5. Jemez Springs - HWY-4

I had Yellowstone on there, have heard really good things about hwy 212(?) but took it off cause it added about 8 hours and I'd wanna stay much longer than I can.

Any good driving roads that y'all know of that are relatively close to the route, please let me know!

That sounds like an epic adventure. I don't know that wing of the country well but it sounds like you'll have some fun! Also good to see another Z4M in Texas!

That path through Colorado is beautiful, especially Silverton to Durango. Widely considered one of America's most beautiful drives. Quite honestly better off driving in the Coupe, as the scenery is too distracting with the 360 views from a Roady. I find myself trying to look up the mountain valley's and watch the curvy roads at the same time.

Good route. I would suggest cutting down through NM and catch Roswell, Carlsbad and then cut over once you get to Ft Stockton on I-10. NM is quite beautiful. And if you cut across on 290 you get to enjoy the Fredericksburg run coming back through the Hill Country. Win! Good luck!

Looks like a great car and deal for what it's got going on from an aftermarket standpoint.

You're in for one hell of a drive.

Welcome to the emerald city! We had some clouds today, but a nice day for pics with the new car.

Speaking of pics, are you going to post them from the road or do we have to wait until you get back??

So the last two days have been a whirlwind! I got on the road late Friday night and made it to Yakima, WA before turning in for the night. I'll try to get pics up soon though, otherwise I'll forget all the details or where I took them

Today's agenda is the Salt flats, Moab and possibly into Colorado. Going to pick up the girlfriend from SLC airport now

Just a word of caution. Every damn small town in southern Utah had a radar
trap. Every one. Radar detectors are highly recommended

In Google maps, click advanced options and then select avoid highways :-)

About 45 hours with no stops.

Sounds good.

I'm still planning on being in Austin that weekend for the CoTA Track Day. Won't make it to Cars and Coffee tho. I have bigger fish to fry!

I was originally supposed to be in OR for work, but ended up being in town for this! Got there late the last day, so most people were leaving but still got to see the track. CAN'T WAIT TO DRIVE ON IT SOMEDAY!

Any meets coming up? I'll be back in Austin tomorrow.

Finally got some time to go through the pictures, putting together a movie now so y'all don't have to scroll through pages and pages

Ended up sticking primarily to the route, but came down through Carlsbad/Roswell to I-10 instead of coming through Amarillo. This was an AMAZING roadtrip, especially the section through Hell's Canyon, and ALL of Colorado.
