scuffin them rims
In parking lots, i try to park at end spots so i only have one car next to mine, and i hug the wall or curb as closely as i can. Last night as i'm pulling out, the tire falls into a rut near the curb and CRUNCH, i end up scuffing the bejezuz out of the front left rim. what's cheaper to fix, a scratched rim or a door/fender ding? my right rear got it bad once when i was parallel parking, i think that one needs to be replaced.
the only ding i have is from when i valeted the car, and the a**hole must have opened a door into my car. outside of that, its clean minus the rare scrape from on the front valence going over bumps and into driveways... so annoying, you try and try but sh*t happens i guess. |

Check locally for rim repair places. We have a mobile guy that picks up the rim, repairs it (typically from $125-250) and then replaces it back on the car. Most dealerships know of people that do this, so I'd talk to a service manager at lets say a BMW dealership.
I can imagine the cost of replacing an OEM rim would be quite a bit in comparison. The company we have here does absolutely stellar work, just as good as new, they also customize rims too as in change the offset or widen it to your liking. Quite cool actually. |

A brand new rim from BMW can run you $700.
You're better off having the rim refinished or going aftermarket and getting a new set.

He scratched up his rim with his bumper and bought the guy a new rim. The other guy showed him the bill and it was $700 including taxes and im assuming labour is in there too. I believe these particular OEM rims are made by Ronal. Cast pieces of crap and still an arm and a leg. Although my friend now has a scuffed up 5 series rim as a souvenir.

Not for me, as $50 is what I pay. Fantastic quality too, good as new all over again.. and yes I'm very picky.
You might want to shop around. Some places are atrocious, AND do horrendous work. Best to ask around on local forums. If you guys have a place called the "Dent clinic" they are a very poorly run operation, stay away |
