2007 M Roadster- clunky shifts

I have had my 2007 M roadster for 6 months and have noticed that my shifts in 1-4 seem to have a notching feeling before being fully engaged. 5th and 6th gear have always been completley smooth while shifting.

Even at a standstill while shifting thru the gears I notice the nothching in 1-4.

I have driven multiple 3 series and the new 2008 M3 and have noticed that the shifting is much smoother.

Does the Z4M roadster have a gear box that is a little rougher than these other models?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts/comments/experiances.

MT

Do a search on CDV or clutch-delay valve.

i dont think he means the delay. i think he is actually referring to the notchy gearbox.
Have you had your transmission fluid change yet... that defiantly helped my shifts to be smoother. The shifter sucks in general so jut change it out for a UUC SSK.

I do mean the notchy gear shift. I have only had the 1200 mile service done and have 4,000 on the car now. Do they change out the transmission fluid at the 1200 mile service?

Will the new shifter kit help stop the notchy feel?

hmm not really but it will help the vague feeling of the shifter. I would suggest getting the ZHP knob from tischer (i love mine!). it is heavier and allows for smoother shifting. and its only $50. heres the link

part number: 25117896886

if your still not satisfied after that then purchase a shifter kit
