For Sale RPI exhaust
Guys, I'm selling my RPI exhaust. As much as I love it, the wife finds it too loud. So, it's for sale. I probably put around 800 miles on it, and it has no dings or dents. It is an easy install, in fact, much easier to install than the Remus I replaced it with. Price is $825, local pickup (Seattle area). $855 shipped Continental US, via ground.
Merry Christmas, Lew PS. I'll sure miss it. I find I'm already wishing it were still on for the short trips by myself for errands....... Send me a PM if you're interested. Last edited by Rustycat; 12-13-2009 at 05:31 PM.. Reason: typo |

LOL that's the second one in the last few months that I've noticed is for sale. Too bad it didn't work out.
Good Luck on the sale. |

I can attest to the build and aural quality of the RPi exhausts. If you can handle the volume and dont do many motorway miles then it's a good choice. The sheer rawness and volume initially shocked me but i've grown quite fond of it now.
Best of luck with the sale!

Havent heard the Supersprints in person but i'm willing to guesstimate that yes, they are louder. They are almost as loud as straight pipes in fact.

The RPIs involve you more in the 'sport' of driving. Blipping the throttle, reving up more aggressively, driving hard in 3rd in the twisties, listening to exhaust shout out the presence of a sports car that 'gets it'. Yup, I do miss those attributes. In fact, I find myself driving more sedately with the Remus cans, as the immediate visceral feedback is
no longer urging me towards driving greatness, gggg. Oh well, the Remus are certainly an improvement in tone quality to the OEM cans, even if they are overly quiet, lol. Lew |

I'm thinking about picking up the Remus in February because I can't afford the Supersprint Powerloops. I'm looking for that subtle exotic sound instead of something that sounds like I'm trying to impress people miles away. Post a review of your Remus cans after they break in!

But it's $2,400 just for the cans! The Remus is $1,400. I doubt it's really worth the extra grand.

The guy who made the BMS exhausts still has the jig and can make you up a set even though BMS has gone out of business. I got the cans and xpipe for well under $2k.

Well I like BMS, I had their cans on my e36 M3. What do you think of them compaired to what you know of Supersprint Powerloops and the Remus?

They are going to be louder if you go with the x-pipe. My Coupe is a weekend car, so I love the sound, but it I drove it every day it might be a little much. Another option would be to get it without the the xpipe. I haven't heard a power loop or remus in person, so it's hard to compare, as every on-line video is of a slightly different angle and quality, so it's hard to draw an accurate apples to apples comparison.

Well both are supposed to be more exotic than stock but with no rasp or drone, just a low profile exotic tone intead of the usual "look at me" sound. So how can I contact this guy?

2 cents
I have the powerloops and x-pipe. It's a good set up and sounds great, but with the x-pipe there is most definitely a drone @ 3000 rpm on the highway. It's not ricer style by any means, but enough that I had difficulty maintaining a handsfree phone conversation. I found myself downshifting to get rid of the drone, so I took off the x-pipe and now am completely satisfied with it. The problem with the ss xpipe lies with the fact that it has no resonator. If one could be fashioned for it, it might help.

I've been thinking about getting SS non-stepped headers eventually but then I wouldn't be able to autocross in the class that I want to be in. I may end up doing 4.10s instead.

Perhaps I am less tolerant (or more discriminating) than you guys (and apparently your girlfriend too). Drone was present before and after header installation, no change. Drone is gone now that the x-pipe has been removed and replaced with the stock x that has a resonator (this makes an obvious difference). Supersprint also manufactures an x-pipe for the e46 M3 -- it has a resonator. Headers do not cause a drone, rather, they add a nice raspy tone and significant hp gains, particularly w/the ESS tune. You should get some, see for yourself.
You may find the following thread informative about headers: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthr...hlight=headers Check it out.
