I don't think so, fire. The bumper is plastic, so I'm not sure, but I would think that trying to buff it would risk damaging the paint around it. I was told that the only way to get rid of it is to repaint the whole bumper. Touch up paint probably won't stick to it either. A scummy collision guy might've tried to convince me that I needed to repaint, but the guy I went to was very honest. He didn't think it was worth it either and told me it wasn't even very noticeable. He's right!

I don't even notice those little scratches. All I know is my Zed is back in one piece and I'm lovin' her!

Glad it worked out for you. Make sure to take her out and give her a nice run so that she knows you still care.

Yes, I understand your happiness. My Z has plenty of 'battle scars' too but, hey, what's the point of having 'em if you're going to obsess about every little tiny thing? I wash, wax, polish...and drive!

Nice dude...I'm happy for you. One of the things I hate most is that I park in the middle of nowhereville in parking lots and there is always one asshole that parks next to me and I have to check everytime for dents and shit. I drives me crazy.

I also hate that I have chips all over the bumper from driving it...if only I had known about the clear bra earlier.

I seriously am really happy for you tho. Here's to keeping our Zeds in perfect condition!

Thanks, FloridaBoy. I feel so much better now that she's repaired. Even with the damage and the bumper detached from the fender on one side, she was still a beautiful-looking beast!

Dammmittt, I know what you mean. It seems as though no matter how far away in the parking lot I go, someone always has to park beside me. It's a real nuisance. I guess other cars like to be near beautiful cars. Oh well!

Some insurance co's open a claim with any call and then charge the time spent on the phone to the claim number. So even if you never end up with a payout to you, there is still a chargable claim on your record. Do two of these and you now have a basis for a rate increase. Stupid and unfair, yes. Personally, I keep high deductibles and in a sense self-insure for the first $1000 so that I never need to make that decision. Small stuff is just 'life happens', big stuff is what insurance is for.

Reminds me of the time I was looking for an attorney. One of the places I called took down my name and number to have the guy call me back. Even though we never talked, they sent and invoice for 15 minutes @ $250/hr. Never paid that one.

Wow, that really sucks. Guess I'm blessed with great ins. co's. I've only ever had two: Statefarm and USAA.

Is your experience that these types of results are from crap ins. co's.?

Well Tina, the great thing is I've never had anything other than a comp claim (stolen stereo when I was a kid) on my own policy so I have no idea who to recommend from a service standpoint.

I have two philosophies on insurance: (1) only buy insurance for catastrophic losses, otherwise it's just expensive, pre-paid maintenance. I do this with my home, auto, and medical. (2) They call it insurance, but part of what you're buying is an attorney. What determines how hard your insurance co will fight is how much they have at risk. I keep a $2M umbrella just to make sure I have the Harvard grads in my corner should I ever need them. Umbrella's are very inexpensive too...
