Do yourself a favor and get a few quotes - State Farm will almost certainly be substantially lower, many others too.

Ditto. Just about $450/year. No deductible. 300k/600k full coverage.

State Farce was almost double what I pay with AAA in IL. They suckered me in for a couple of years until they raised my deductible because I had the gall to actually file a claim after I got nailed by a retread.

Minor violation are in fact on your record for three years while major violations such as reckless driving, DUI, and speeding over 20 mph (Florida) stay on your record for five years.

I don't know how much my MC is by itself, but I do know that the MC and MR2 together is just under $700 for 6 months of coverage. Only MC has full coverage though, and MR2 only has liability.
I'm only 22 years old, with a clean record since 16 and I put the car under my parents' names for the cheapest rates I could find haha.

I recall that including our other two cars (all liability only, again, except for the MC), we're paying a total of < $1300 every 6 months for 4 cars total and 4 people, and part of our house coverage as well. I think that's a pretty good rate =P

I pay only about $275 every 6 months with AAA here in Oklahoma and that's with fairly high liability limits (250k/500k) and a 1,000 deductible. 52 years old.

insurance rates

Do you think the insurance companies know the difference or make pricing differences between the ///M and the 3.0si?
Probably not, imho.
From the posts on this thread, seems like age is the determining factor for pricing.

I do think they differentiate between M and non-M cars. But yes, age, driving experience, and driver record account for the bulk of the costs. Provided a reasonable coverage package of course

My agent told me that they are starting to use credit score as a significant factor in pricing as well. I'm only assuming that they have found that those that are reckless with money have similar tendencies behind the wheel too. I'm not sure how valid this theory is but right now I seem to be benefiting from it.

Ok, it seems everyone has substantially lower insurance than I do. I'm 28, FL resident, drive a '06 M Roadster, and have two at fault incidents in the last 3 years. One of these goes off in April. I've got full coverage with Progressive ($100k/$300k) and it's about $2300/6 months.

Now the part that worries me is that I just got my first speeding ticket, in GA of all places. Clocked me on laser doing 87 in a 60 as I was passing someone (although I have serious doubts that I was going that fast). And it was a construction zone...or what GA calls a construction zone, which is essentially just cones for 30 miles. I'm still waiting for the ticket amount to show up online, but after calling the probate court I believe it'll be about $300 + an extra $200 for going over 85. That, I don't care so much about. I'm more concerned with what this will do to my insurance.

Any ideas how much this will affect my insurance? Does anyone have any alternate recommendations for insurance providers that have good coverage?

If my insurance was 1200/mth, I would be looking for another car. $14K/yr for insurance? No way.

If my insurance was anymore than what I am paying right now, I'd sell the Z. Seriously. Insurance is a scam.
