Sport button and 'Service Engine Soon' light SEL
Hi,
2007 Z4M Not particularly aggressive driving... I live on an island. I use the sport button about 25% of the time because I like the way the car performs with it engaged. I have always found it to be most useful once the engine has warmed up a bit. Last week when I pushed the button, at the first acceleration the SEL came on and the car went into 'hobble' mode. Turned it off when safe to do so, restarted with no SEL and had a perfectly normal response without the sport button engaged. I replaced all the 02 sensors a few years ago when a checkup noticed that one was failing... so that would be the last place I'd look... unless someone points me there right away. No exhaust mods (yet). CDV delete done. Any other suggestions where to look for an issue? Perhaps the MAF sensor needs cleaning? Or? Spent the last 15 minutes searching so I don't think there's a thread for this particular issue... but happy if there is and someone points me to it. Thanks in advance, Ian |

You will need the OBD2 code. I would buy a code reader, but some auto parts stores will read them for free.

I think having one of these should be mandatory for every auto enthusiast. Scan your car and tackle the exact issue instead of guessing

I bought this Wifi OBD II reader from Amazon for $20. Just download the free app for your iphone or android and your phone links with it though wifi. I used it once and worked well.
