New article for an old dog.

Zach Mayne, the journalist who potographed and wrote about Scatha in the past, wrote another article about her for retromodmag. It was very nice of him. You can read it here: http://www.retromodmag.com/features/art-car

Now that's how you do a damn BMW art car. BMW AG should be paying attention here because a "wrap" designed on a computer and then printed on vinyl is not art.

An artist used their vision, talent and HANDS to create something from nothing. This project is awesome!!!

Freakin awesome project! You've done such a great job with this car we all know and love. I hope to see it in person one day. Perhaps on the track! I might have to come down to SoCal to do that, but I think it would be worth the trip.

Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful car. I really enjoyed seeing it in person a couple years ago at Bimmerfest.

Hey Earl! Haven't seen you post for a while. Still have the E39 M5? Great article and glad Scatha is still getting attention!

Excellent article and an incredible car you have there. Glad to see you executed on your vision flawlessly.

A friend of mine was looking to emulate the art cars of lore with a wrap on his enduro Z4M, so far its still only an idea...

-Of course! Tiamat is doing well. I am close to writing up her new shock/strut setup, which I hope will help other E39 owners. With Dinan going public and declining, and with the younger demographic moving into E39s while most reputable companies are moving on to newer BMWs, it seems that the knowledge base for quality components has fragmented since I was last active on m5board. Hopefully I can improve that situation.

-Thanks guys. It's good to see that Scatha can be inspiring to a new generation of Z owners. Later this year I will start repainting her, a bit at a time. Not to change the composition's essence, but to add some interest and complexity through new techniques I learned doing my 2nd art car. Stay tuned...

I saw this car in 2011 at Bimmerfest. I didn't know anything about art cars and thought it was a BMW-sponsored program car. I thought it was odd they chose Apex wheels (that should have been my clue!) on a factory car. It looked amazing, and it's even more impressive now that I know what went into it. Spectacular build!!

If you ever want a blank canvas for a second car, I will gladly donate my car's paint

-Unfortunately I can't post pics easily right now. Godaddy changed their servers format and my mymcoupe.com URL got poached by a Jap squatter - thats why all my old pics are gone. I'll be setting up a new account to consolidate my hosting, at which point I should have easy FTP access.

The intake is the old CFR-series ESS manifold, just ceramic coated for heat insulation.
