How to change the side mirror cover?

Does someone know how to remove the side mirror cover yourself?

There's another DIY somewhere on this site.
It's easier to take the plate of of the bottom and rotate the backing plate from below, rather that the way it shows in the above link.

I can confirm this, just replaced both my covers. MUCH easier from below.

Ian, did you say that your carbon fiber covers are just caps or full replacement covers?

Full replacements.
They are actually OE shells that have been CF'd

I am considering getting a set. I don't have any experience with CF, so would you recommend a 3M-style film treatment to protect them?
