Wiper rubbers
When replacing wiper rubbers, does the REALOEM listing:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...61&fg=45&hl=19 05 Wiper rubber BOSCH 530 MM Qty 2 ... 61618220913 $11.74 ... mean that a set of 2 costs $11.74, or that you have to buy 2 x $11.74? Stated differently, is part 61618220913 a single rubber, or a set of 2 rubbers? |

The fact that it shows a quantity of (2) per car would indicate that it is per blade. However, I've bought refills at my local dealer and found them to be only about $5/side.

Hmmmm - thanks. Looks like we get ripped off by our dealers in Australia. My local dealer, BMW Sydney, charged me US$55 for 2 rubbers ... more than 5 times what you paid.
Shall make certain to check ebay / wobbly wobbly wobbly next time first. Last edited by krusty; 08-22-2012 at 10:05 AM.. |

try part number 61610154440 instead ..i have an 06 z4 coupe and the inserts worked perfect for me, but you just need to cut them a bit...took me about a minute...
p/n doesn't show up on realoem but it does at trademotion.com .. they are $2.64 each with 14.95 shipping. I tried to get my dealership to match...they wouldn't...they offered $7 each which I still didn't take... I needed some screws as well, and only had $10 in cash so they gave the inserts to me for $3.30 each... **damn, forgot you're in Australia... Last edited by papitosabe; 08-22-2012 at 03:03 AM.. |

Can you actually change the rubber on the BMW blades? Over the past 15 years or so I've just "drank the kool-ade" I guess and have been gritting my teeth and overpaying for whole blade assemblies and tossing the old ones.

That's after waiting for the "behind closed doors parts dept" to complete the sale and waiting for someone ese to install the inserts. Total wait time approx. 40 minutes I'm guessing. And then there's the 30% probability they weren't installed right. No thanks.

Last time I had the dealer change my blades under warranty it was done in the shop by a mechanic. He completely marred my wiper arms just removing and installing the metal blades. They ended up giving me two new wiper arms. Very sad and I would not recommend having anyone touch your blades. Buy them and do it yourself for less headaches.
