Almost nobody makes a targa anymore except for GM and Porsche and neither of those are $34,000.
That part is cool and different for that guy or lady that doesn't want a roadster. I had a Miata once and loved it but as I look at them now I cringe when I see it's very diminutive proportions. The styling has emotion to it but I cannot go back to one. |

I think it looks lovely. The back especially reminds of the Z coupe, which is beautiful.
The power level is too low though Wish they would offer something stock with a bit more ooompf. -gc |

I think it looks great and would love something like that in future generations of the Z4. Do we know if the top takes away any space in the trunk when retracted? This was one of the reasons I did not prefer the E89.

I like it and I hope Mazda keeps the inexpensive roadster/coupe concept alive in the USA as too many manufacturers are abandoning :-(
It cracks me up that Mazda tries to define themselves as a "drivers' car" and yet they offer the driver all kinds of aids to keep them from running into things. Steve |

The new MX-5 has certainly been well received in the reviews I've read in Car and Driver and Road and Track. They are positively gushing over the car. However, the more expensive Fiat variant, with more power and a bit more upscale, isn't nearly as highly thought of. The review I read recently of the Fiat concluded with the advice that the better car is the Mazda, at a lower price too.

Like them(alot)had a mx-5 back in 2000, wasn't all that impressed, but the new ones are supposed to be great.if i ever get tired of my Z, i would consider one.(alot of bang for the buck.)
It's a fine line, the wifey calls it a "chick car" lol

Its not like they don't have decent turbo engines, they just decline to stick a Mazdaspeed version in the Miata. Too bad. Top is cute, but I bet it might find its way into later models, so probably not a unique version of the Miata.

You can upgrade the NA motor to 200hp plus from what I am reading. It isn't cheap, but much less than an FI project. They also weigh much less than competitors. Hopefully Mazda will make an FI version of the 2.0 since the 2.5 is now available in FI form. This time they can try and do it right compared to the weakling NB Mazdaspeed.
