Carfax 'Price Calculator'?
Anyone understand the CARFAX "Price Calculator"? Looking at the carfax for two different 2008 MRs, one has that had a last odo reading of 5,388 was valued $380 below book value, while one with 29,600 was valued at $1,650 above book value? Doesn't make sense to me, what am I missing?
Anyway, I'm looking to move up from an '04 3.0 to the M if I can find the right one. |

Just a bunch of if you ask me. I have no idea why it would value things that way. My personal view of CarFax is that's it's mostly marketing. This "value" thing is just another way for them to try and corner that market now that they have the general public convinced their service is "golden". (It's not, I've seen major accidents missed on their reports--on a car I owned, with major reported repairs, 6 months after the fact).
I'd use KBB, Edmunds, or Black Book for values. Plus this forum isn't a bad source of compares either. |
