Z4 3.0 Buyer
Greetings to all. I'm a newbie seeking to purchase a Z4 3.0 from 2003 to 2008. I'm scared to death about the steering issues associate with the Z4. When did BMW correct the problem and what is a safe year to consider buying? I'm really frightened and confused by this problem but I love the vehicle and its awesome styling. Please advise
Thanks ChesterZ4 |

Supposedly in 2006 but I have a co-worker who had a 2006 with the notchy steering.
I would say to either go laaaate 2006 or buy a 2007. OR... if the seller can prove the column has been replaced. Other issues - case you havent already picked up on them: 1. Ragtops have poor drainage - ends up rusting out the poiwer top motor if you dont keep the drainholes cleaned out or just keep it out of the rain 2. Si's - can have noisey lifters due to poor design - can literally hear them while in the car while driving. BMW will fix - if in warranty. Good luck

The steering issue is nothin but a little bit annoying, don't let it factor in as a final decision. That being said, I have an supercharged 04 3.0i FS if you're interested

I didn't even know there was a problem with the steering. The convertible top though is a pain, very poor design but every rose has a thorn
