Name that leather
I JUST PURCHASED A 2003 bmw z4 2.5I w/ PREMIUM, SPORT, CONVENIENCE packages it has black leather interior which is a little stiff and slightly faded can anyone tell me what type of leather this is ie. dyed, treated etc. my question is, is it just real leather or some sort of hybrid . I am trying to figure out how to bring it back to life, that is if it ever had one. I tried the cleaner and conditioner that came with my home leather sofa with ok results then i tried baseball glove conditioner which seem to make them go back in the other direction. Is there any hope of getting these seats looking good and softer again.

If it has ZPP (Premium Package), it should be BMW's Dakota leather. It's real leather, not leatherette (vinyl). It's definitely the harder of the BMW leathers, so don't expect it to ever be buttery smooth, but Leatherique is probably your best bet for re-injecting life into it. Search on here - or in this section for information on it.

Thanks for your advice that helps along with the link i will give it a go.
Looks like the seats brake handle and collar, shiter collar and knob and steering wheeland the mid door inserts are leather, although the visors and the strip down the center of the dash are flexible but i'm guessing that is some sort of vinyl, what say you and thanks again for your input. |
