No start. Inlet camshaft position sensor codes (Did OEM camshaft sensor replacement)

Bought my roommate’s Z4 E85 when he moved abroad. Was super busy and wasn’t able to drive it but had to repark it. Ran great.

Left it for like 10 days and would not start. Starter cranks fine. Battery is fine. It almost wanted to start a few times in the beginning but then EML/service soon light came on and now starter just cranks.

Bought a foxwell scanner:

Scanned and got these codes:

07 - GM: Signal STDWA (only relevant if anti-theft alarm fitted)

2896 - DME: Inlet camshaft sensor: signal

Bought a cheap Amazon replacement part (had high reviews) so I figured I’d give it a shot.

Did nothing.

Bought an OEM one. Bremi (same exact one in car)

Did nothing. BUT I got a new code:

27B5 - DME: Inlet camshaft: activation

Tried clearing codes and this one went away and didn’t come back.

Can someone please help me?

Could it be the vanos solenoid? Or the DME?
