You're seemingly on the wrong forum... if you hadn't noticed, this is a BMW Z4 forum. Welcome but uhh, I don't think most of us here care much for corvette powered aussie cars that can't turn. Suspension? sure.. but you forget that the Z4 still has a significant weight advantage and won't need aftermarket suspension to outrun you on a road course.

As Colin Chapman put it, "to get more speed, just add lightness".

In regards to how much you pay for your service/maintenance, it only costs me $60 to do my maintenance. $200 is even over priced for me!! So i really have no idea what mechanic is screwing your tailpipe for $200.

No problem! I've owned Bimmer's in the past and I'm a racing instructor for 3 BMW car clubs on the east coast (Florida, GA, SC).

No, I'm not. This is a car forum and anyone that enjoys cars can enjoy. I've driven Zs in the past at speed on the race track and they are nice, not as stable as their longer wheelbase siblings but nice, none the less. I've raced for 12 years and instructed for 7 so I'm quite familar with turning. Even the M car owners do suspension mods. Stock is ok for some but when the skill level increases, it just isn't enough. As far as Colin Chapman is concerned - I've raced Lotus so I'm on it! As far as the Z3/Z4 is concerned, I've never had one outpace me on the track but I do have the "driver" mod so that may make up for the weight advantage.

Thanks!

I've been a big fan of the Aussi Super ca racing with the Holdens for many years. I love the european feel with the V8 grunt. They handle ok out of the box but it needed to be stiffened up a bit. It is now where I want it! I've done King springs, adj. Konis, poly bushings, Wilwood 6 piston brakes, and lightened her up a bit.

the 335i is faster in a Z4M - so how do we get more power in the ///M to keep up with a 335i? My solution is to get an M3. A supercharger does not sound attractive....

M3 won't be that much faster than the M Coupe. It's got some weight issues. I think by the time I can afford it, HPF will have me a 750 turbo for the M Coupe. The question is...do I want that rediculous of a car?

We have a few in town already. My business partner who owns a E46 M3 went and test drove one. He told me it was to quiet and civilized for him.

A 335i is Absolutely the slower car...We lined my bros Z4///M coupe up against a new 335i sport, 6 speed driven by myself. Our shifting abilities are comparable and very fast...2 rolls from 70mph and one from 50. Every time we punched the ///M pulled a bit in each gear due to gearing and redline. This was consistent right to the darkside of the speedo.... I was very impressed with the 335i. However if u gave me the choice i wouild take the coupe but i would love to have the 335i as a daily. Amazing car. The drivetrain seemed to have alot of slack during hardshifts, Maybe the CDV?

On the Topic of Shift speed, Who here considers themselves a real fast shifter? What do u consider a really fast shift? Is chirping 3rd an accomplishment?

I'm talkimng about an E92 M3. You really think that an E92 M3 will have the same or similar 0-100kph as an E86 Z4M?

Absolutely. Everything I've read has them .2s appart. Sure its faster, but not enough for me to drop my ///M coupe. I'm keeping this thing as long as its running.

The E9X M3 is kinda boring looking too. I'd much rather have an E46.

I consider myself a decent shifter. I've never put a stop watch to it, but its definately in the lower tenths of a second. As fast as you can pull or push the lever its in. Not sure what you mean by chirping 3rd...
