Total Z4 M Coupe production?

Well, the rumors that have been circulating for a while are starting to firm up a bit, and it looks like the Z4 will stop production with the 2008 model year, this August at the latest. In February, the total number of Z4MCs stood at 1,687 cars built since the 2006 introduction. I'm thinking we won't make it to 2000 cars. Any thoughts?

Not yet, but there were some posts on Bimmerfest that were hinting that if you wanted to order a Z4, immediately would be a good time.

Me too. That is part of the appeal- makes a Porsche seem as common as a camry by comparison.

The numbers I have are from a previous post by Ron Stygar on Bimmerfest, and are for coupes only - I haven't seen any totals for the M Roadster. Ron's post was breakdown by year, and only covers North America (US, Canada, Mexico):
2006
6LL93000 > 6LL93379: 380 = 380

2007
7LL93380 > 7LL93999: 620
7LM08000> 7LM08566: 567 = 1187

2008
8LM08567 > current production (130 as of February)

Before anyone asks, the switch from LL toLM in 2007 indicates nothing more than that production crossed the 1000 cars threshold. The jump to the 8000 number range indicates that the other ranges are used for other markets and models, running concurrently.

Stop production for what reason? Does it mean they are stopping the production in the US due to the X6 to be made here? But the Z4 will continue to be made somewhere else? Is it due to the next Z model? Or are you saying the Z will no longer be made?

Id really like to know how many roadsters were made,
and that number seems surprisingly low, I know the Z4 M's are rare but I didn't realize that rare,

Possibly that might help with its value?

I'm fairly certain the Z4MR started with LY52000. The highest VIN I can find for an M Roadster on Autotrader is LY53792, so that's 1,793 cars at least.

I don't know where you guys get the idea that any Z car is rare. The demand is low because the car is not all that popular in the sports car world. That doesn't make the car rare. Ford GT's are rare, not the Mustang, Vipers might be. I like my Z because it's a great sports car and you don't meet yourself comming and going in one, but they are not rare, seldom occuring or found.

Hey, just went to the link I had saved for Fred Meloan's BMW Sales reports and it looks like it is now not public any more. Too bad, that was a great resource. Fred, if you are out there what happened? Here is the link

If <2000 cars were produced in 3 years that makes the car rare IMO.

And what's the deal with comparing the Zed to the Mustang? The mustang has production numbers in the thousands every single year, hence the reason it is not considered rare.

Your comparison is like comparing a silver dollar to a $1 bill.

Glad to see you read the definition, maybe you still don't understand....
Ford GT>2000/yr vs. Mcoupe <2000total
"Rare" is a relative term. So when you classify something as rare or not, you have to first ask, 'compared to what?' Mcoupes are in fact more rare than Ford GT's. How many threads/posts are individuals going to argue that Mcoupes are NOT rare? The fact is they are rare! Maybe people just don't understand the definition of the word? I've highlighted the parts of the definition that descibe our cars quite well!
