What diesel engine will fit my Z4?

I do a LOT of miles...if anything is going to make me sell my Z it will be the fuel economy.

I got to thinking today, my no diesel?

I mean, take the 330CD Twin turbo 3 litre lump...why not put that or some version or single turbo in there?

Obviously this probably means a gearbox change but money aside, what could be possible?

The only thing I can think of it the weight of the engine being different, but surely it's not that much?

I thought the Z got good fuel economy

I bet for the price of the swap you could almost just buy some micro diesel car for commuter duties

Ah, but I like my Z, My diesel civic 1.7 CTDI does a good 55mpg, the Z 2.2 30mpg

I drove 1000km on Monday and took the civic instead, I can't see an engine swap being difficult...just something not many people do!

Suggest you determine the weight of the diesel before proceeding further. It may weigh a lot more.

I think your best course would be to locate a wrecked 300 CD and buy the entire wreck; and then swap all the bits into a Z4.

You realize, of course, that you will then be forever known as the "Fuitcake with the diesel sportscar..."

I don't know about you. But here in the US, the cost of diesel has risen. So you no longer get the cost savings from a diesel vehicle than you would in the past.

Price for diesel per gallon is the same as gas in the UK.

It used to be cheaper but is about the same now.

Ok, it might not be the weight.

The M57D30TU is only 39 kilos heavier with the twin turbos fitted.
