What the...jackpoints?

Is it me, or am I missing 2 jackpoints?

Here's what the back looks like:

Here's what the front looks like:

Looks like the rubber part of the jackpoint was removed at some point....or is this some sort of silly M feature? Both sides in front look like this.

More importantly, is it still safe to use that part of the front as a jackpoint without the rubber part?

Yea, you're missing some.

I wouldn't jack without the pad.

I recently found the front of my car was missing one as well. The parts guy at the dealership said they fairly commonly were dislodged. They had them in stock for $27.85, part# 51-71-8-268-885

yes, you can jack there using a small block of hard wood. You won't be able to use a jackstand though. You can also lift both sides using the front center jack point which is a round piece of hard rubber at the front edge of the aluminum under body panel.

Whoa, that seems super overpriced. RealOEM lists it as 51717894027 for $9.03...

I'll see if I can get to the front center jack point. How far in from the front is it? Would a regular hydraulic jack be able to get access?

It's WAAAY up there.
You really can't reach it from the front, so I've always raised the rear first then used a Craftsman floor jack coming in behind the front wheel to reach the front center jack point.

Suggest you re-pad your chassis before you begin jacking

I built little ramps out of a 2x10x10 and jack from the center jack pad. Added little rubber stoppers to keep them from sliding when I drive up on them.

+1 except I'd use a hockey puck instead of a wood block until the replacement part came in.

The jack supports are there for a reason.
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...27&postcount=3
If properly installed with the center locking pin fully inserted the Z4 jack pad is very difficult to remove without removing the locking pin. Since the jack pad occupies the place where you insert the tie-down T-hook I modified the jack pad so it can be levered out without removing the locking pin. Haven't lost a jack pad yet
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...light=jack+pad
I carry four T-hooks so the car can be properly lashed down for flatbed towing. I've seen too many tow truck operators lash down BMWs using straps wrapped through the wheel spokes or around suspension components.

Tried to purchase some from AWdirect, no luck finding part PD1. Do you have a newer part number?

Did find these tho.

The T hook is the one you want. $6 is a good price.

Turner sells the jack pad for about half of what the rip off dealer wanted

Yes you want the CA-13 T-hook. I wrap them in bubble wrap, put them in a Ziploc bag and store them next to the battery.

Cool thanks for info, I'll grab some of these and hope I never need to use them except for dyno testing!

Good info....this should be 'pinned' for future reference in the DIY section!

If you jack the car from the rear pad it will lift the whole side of the car.

Sorry to go off topic. Anyone have opinions on this?

I have seen them listed on ebay for around $40. Is it worth it?

I am missing all 4, I'll take these if they haven't been claimed yet.

Apparently the Z4 loves to shed parts because I thought I was the only one missing these. I also thought I was the only one missing a couple of the little plastic interior pieces on the vents and doors but a fellow member confirmed his were missing as well! Same with the battery cover clips!

Yeah, you could say the brake cooling ducts and I had a "falling out." The first one is somewhere on 46, and the second decided to unseat itself and get munched by the tire. Btw, nice signature. Where did you get the pic?
