hand BREAK light

Hi all,

Lately, I have had this issue with the hand break light icon that pops especially when the engine is cold. It first comes up in red then sometimes switch on and off between yellow and red.

This seems to also correspond with the DSC icon coming on and disengagement of the system. Once the engine is nice and warm, the situation can be remedied by just turning off and then on the car.

It all seems a little weird. I would assume that the brake sensor could be worn out and I am fairly confident about it and I was planning on swapping pads and disks soon.

I just wanted to get your guys' opinion and whether it is something more worrisome. Thanks.

I had a similar issue with these lights coming on for a brief second. Months later, it was my alternator.

Could be possible wheel speed sensor. Had it happen to me on my old E46
