No, unless you scuff the shit out of your interior trying to get them squeezed in

No sweat. Blankets, with one rear on passenger seat and three in hatch closed.

19x9.5 w/245's and 19x10.5 with 275's.

sadly... not in an ///m.

the battery/tool kit take up 20% of the useable volume. the 3.0si doesn't have this problem.

Bummer on the space.

I always wondered why BMW engineers didn't just use two narrow batteries and fit them elsewhere instead of just plopping in atop the trunk floor RIGHT in the way. Function fully over form.:thumb down

They could have always merged the twin exhaust pipes into one muffler box to safe weight and packaging and still retained twin tips. You can stamp a sheet metal muffler in a lot of odd shapes to get the right sound.

Digressing..........

Supposedly for car balance to offset the heavier drivers side, and driver side engine. The rear passenger side is the lightest section of the car, so they put your 40lb batter there. Performance over storage space.

They screwed that theory up with dual mufflers then. A lower center of gravity would have been a smarter pursuit, I'd have thought. Forego storage altogether.

Much like the S.I. coupe has a below deck battery and single exhaust box. They could have easily matched that configuration and created the proper flow rate for performance. The additional 70hp wouldn't have even noticed if massaged right.

There was also all kinds of space between the cabin and firewall behind the interior covers.
