Damn.. my headliner is failing and I just came across this while doing headliner research (and looking for that dude that had the transparent roof)... Do you mount the visors and upper console/lights on the roof or do they need the headliner to mount properly. I would consider this with no headliner if you can mount the oem stuff to the roof w/o the headliner.

Update on mine:

I've had my roof (2x2 twill) installed for about 2 months now and am having issues already. Thousands of air bubbles have popped up between the gel coat and CF. From a bit of research, this is due to sloppy hand laid processes in manufacturing plus sloppy gel coat application. Additionally, the gel coat is turning a milky blue color, which the product description on their website specifically claims will not happen.

No response from Geoff Steel for the two emails I've sent... not completely surprised since their site also says they take no responsibility for any of their work after signed delivery occurs.

edit: Other owner results may differ. Obviously a hand laid CF product has variance in outcome. This is simply my experience. Their customer support needs serious improvement though.

I will absolutely not be purchasing from this company again.

That's so weird.
My roof is been installed for 6 months now and it's in perfect condition.
Sorry you are having bad experience

I'm certainly happy that yours, and likely others', are in good shape!

A few little bubbles appeared about 3 weeks ago and I immediately sent an inquiry in to GS. My own research indicates this is not a structural defect at all, but more likely whomever was applying the prep for the gel coat was hurried that day. The roof looked 100% perfect when I received it in Nov of last year, and was stored appropriately over the winter until I was able to get it installed by a local body shop. There were no imperfections known after install.

For anyone who has one installed... I found my issues when the sun was low in the sky about 1 hour before sunset. Parked in the garage it looks perfect. It's only when the sun gets low that all the many many reflections of bubbles show up. The blue haze is evident in all light however.

Mine came with a bunch of very small bubbles, I didn't get the package myself but its not tooooo bad but since day one I keep it away from the sun as much as I can when I drive it so more won't pop out... repairing it is wayyy too much money..

Did you have it clear coated when you got it or install it immediately? I purchased a CSL airbox from them, and we had to have it recleared four times before we could get all the pits out. Most carbon guys don't want to do the extra work, so they send it to you without clear coating.

Installed next day after delivery haha but I might get it cleared now since it's at the bodyshop getting a fresh coat of paint.

Update on mine:

The emails I had sent did not make it to GS due to my own errors. Will (GS employee) was reading this thread and has reached out to me for more information. Apologies to the GS team for my communication blunder.

Here are pics of what the bubbles look like...

Next Roof In Line

I've been emailing Lyndsey also at GS with no replies.
I was next in line after RobMCoupe and am still waiting.
Does anyone know if they make a Carbon front lip for our cars?

I hope my roof comes out ok and those with issues get them sorted.

Update on mine:

After a few emails back and forth from GS, their thoughts are that the bubbles are due to my local climate and not something they can engineer out unless the part is autoclaved during initial construction. No repair is possible. In other words... I'm SOL.

My own thoughts remain that the curing chemicals were improperly mixed/applied. The evidence of this is that new bubbles are still appearing, and the bubbles that have been there for the last month are getting larger. This, to me, means that the curing agents are still evaporating; the gel coat still hasn't fully cured 10 months after being applied.

DISCLAIMER: I am not an expert in any type of gel coat, paint, chemicals, or similar application. My thoughts on this are strictly based on internet searches. It is entirely possible that the heat/humidity in my area is causing the protective layer failing... I just find this unlikely.

I very much hope I'm the only customer of theirs that is having this issue. Keep an eye on yours just in case though.
