So why is only available through dealers?
Of which there are none!
IDK why, I can't even come up with something feasible.

They would make more selling direct to customers. Maybe it's to try and force a larger dealer network since it's pretty lacking by being an incentive that the kits are shop installed only. IDK.

This is why I'd want to install it myself,
This is something I am looking into once it becomes a little more mainstream,

But there's no way I am having it installed,

I'm really mechanically inclined too, and I wanted to install it myself and send my ecu to ess, but there's nothing I can do about it, the kit has to be installed by ess or one of their dealers

for the amount of money you're ready to dish out on shipping, you might as well ship it to ess

If they are paying you that little attention when you're waving money in their face, imagine how little attention they are going to pay you once they have your money....

If I were you I would not use a shop as you described.

I used to live in Calgary and the Tunerworks guys are good people. Rob (owner) and Bobby will take care of you - they've been in business for nearly 11 years.

It's frustrating when you want to pay and people are busy or seem disinterested in your business. Usually it means the company is just busy and if they're closed for renos for two weeks that is perfectly understandable. If they're serious about your business and you're serious as a customer both of you should be able to pick up the phone and call.

I'm probably in the minority, but I'd give them a few days this week to get back to you. If they don't, then consider other options.

Lots of businesses take time off or have limited hours over the holidays--they may not be ignoring you but simply may be spending time with family or traveling.

Just my two cents on that.

I know ESS has a good reputation, but just like the rest of you this "policy" makes no sense. If you're willing to do the install and incur whatever "risks" there may be then why the hell not sell the damn thing?

Does anyone know for sure if ESS will sell to DIYers? I saw a lot of threads over the past few years about DIY installs of this kit, but now I hear folks say that you must have it installed be a ESS dealer (I think there's two dealers in the US? lol)

I've tried emailing Roman without any response for the past 3 weeks.

I live close to Turner Motorsport in Massachusetts and talked with some folks there about supercharging.

While they don't offer the ESS Twin Screw kit, they do have a Active Autowerke C38 kit with uses a Rotrex C38 blower.

While this kit will not have the low RPM torque that a twin screw unit has, it's also $2k cheaper, so that's something to consider Rabbit...I don't know if the C38 Rotrex unit is used on the S54, but I know its used on the M54.
