What a great thread. I was installing H&R springs on the Z. Already finished the back and started working on the front. Was in the process of loosening the top nuts on the front strut. GF came out asking questions and kept annoying me while I was trying to concentrate. Ended up loosing one of the top mount nuts into the engine bay. All I heard was a few dings on the way down. For such a large engine bay. There is no room to find anything. I started cursing and gave my GF a look. She immediately got quiet and grabbed a flashlight. Spent more time looking for that damn nut than it took to do both front struts. Ended up taking off the bottom cover under the engine to find it. It was right on top of the cross member. When I went to put the struts back in I told her to keep quiet. On a positive side she never gave up on trying to find the nut even after an hour. She could tell I was pissed and trying not to loose it.
PS - just watched the brake job video. Thank you for that. I was cracking up the whole time. Hilarious......F this, F that...turn the right way, broken tool, camera wiggling as your struggling....laughing now just thinking of it. Then the damn brake pad sensor wire....how does it go.....been there!!! Love working on my car each time it's a new adventure....need to invest in a few magnetic tools...g-d knows I will need them... Roffle...HAHAHAHA
I'm kinda glad to see I'm not the only one who does stuff like that. When I tried putting on my springs I had similar problems and not enough space in my garage to do any better. Is there a new video of the correct change? This is the new DIY! Video stylee!!

I was just installing my new CAI and I dropped the screw driver bit to the left of the CAI. I heard it hit a few times but I don't think it hit bottom, unless it was the plastic part. I simply can't find it.
Is it dangerous to run the engine with a bolt or screw driver bit unaccounted for? I checked the belts and it's not in the belts? I don't have the ability to take the bottom pan off, can I run the engine without finding it? Is there any risk of doing so? |

haha, yeah, I just layed down on the ground and looked at the heavens I shot 5.5 gigabytes and 50 minutes of video for the brakes. The supercharger install would have been way too much to edit. But I did do a lot of cursing with some hose fittings

If anyone here has put together a computer or 2, you also know the feeling of dropping a bolt into the case around the motherboard. You GOTTA find it, or it might short out the whole computer

I went to retrieve it and the first nudge sent it right into a capacitor and it blew the board in a puff of smoke. The rest of the computer was fine after I replaced the mobo though. |

Roffle, buy a breaker bar the next time. A breaker bar makes removing the caliper on the front a hell of a lot easier. Just make sure you're loosening the bolt with it. (Yeah, I'm one to talk, since I've done the opposite as well.) |
