EAG has a solid reputation. Lots of satisfied customers on M5board. The only negative thing I have heard about EAG is regarding prices. But, buying a used car from EAG seems one of the lowest risk options. They scour the country to find low-mileage M cars and refurbish as needed before the sale. And hey, it's a free market...

Will be interested to see how this turns out.

If what you say is true, they will likely not be selling this particular car at their place. Pretty sad history. I wouldn't want my dealership associated with it.

I would be surprised if they did.

Their buyback policy for starters.

Looks like they're selling it after all...hit their site and AutoTrader at roughly $4k more than it was going for back in AZ.

I wonder if Chickdr has heard anything else from them. It was to go through a PPI.

Agreed. I'm of a mind to contact EAGs rep on M5board...

Although the previous threads do document the car was a BMW school car, where did the information about the car being smacked into a wall come from?

I have not received any updates since my last post. The info about damage came from the other thread where a board member who contacted BMWNA about the car was told a bunch of parts had been replaced:"HUGE update, just went by my local dealer, and she confirmed that it was a BMW racing school vehicle, and it was sold at auction with 6200 miles for $19,000. She went on for about 2 minutes naming the parts that were replaced! So I will prob be backing out of this deal..." which - to me - indicates it was wrecked. I can't think of another reason a 6,200 mile car would sell in 2008 for $19K - even to a dealer. I hope to see more on this from EAG. It is interesting to note the other poster had a deal on the car at $26K before backing out. Now it's listed at $31K. I would love to know what EAG paid for the car. I will ask the guy at EAG about it again and report back what I find out. He seemed to be pretty open before.

Im not 100% on this, but if I remember correctly, I think Arizona Auto had the car on consignment.

There are some assumptions made about this car in this thread that may or may not be fair. Regarding the $19k sale price quoted by the dealer...I'm sure that when the M Coupe was originally sold it was announced at the auction as a performance school vehicle which would obviously drive down the price. I'm also not really sure where they got the $19k number as I have never seen an auction sale price listed on a DCS report.

I am a firm believer that the Performance School history should be disclosed; however, if the vehicle was completely reconditioned by BMW (which it was)...how is that really a bad thing? Should the M be worth less than a similar mileage/optioned 06 coupes that are currently on the market? Absolutely...but that doesn't make it worthless. When salvage titled M coupes (which were not maintained and reconditioned by BMWNA) sell in the high teens and higher, I fail to see what makes this specific car so worthless in many of your eyes.

$30k is just dumb but I would buy this car in the low 20's all day long for a track car...we already know it feels right at home there!

The 19k price was told to me by a SA. I have no knowledge of what information BMW's systems actually keep. Cosmetically the car was reconditioned, and the car looks great. I feel it's the potential mechanical problems that drive the price down. We all agree that the car isn't without value, but it's unfair for a dealer to sell the car to a potential buyer for mid to high 20s without disclosing its history.

Just got this back from Eric:

Hello again Tommy,

The coupe has arrived and I personally inspected it yesterday with our master tech. We couldn’t find any signs of accident history, the frame is untouched from the factory and all panels match up correctly. The coupe is nicer than what I expected for sure, especially after receiving your information. All of the suspension components are in good shape, same with the brakes. Fluids are all recent and the only thing we can really complain about are the Continental RFT tires being 30% or so. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention, I really appreciate it!

So...."Thank you, but we're moving forward with selling it as unmolested due to our findings" is basically what they said....
