Moving from TX to WA, how to ship/transport the ///M Coupe?

I'm moving from central TX to Seattle, WA in a couple of weeks. Trying to figure out how to get my ///M coupe there, other than driving it (myself). Has anyone used a reputable car shipping company, preferably using enclosed trucks, that they car recommend?

I use American Auto Transport. They have enclosed trucks and use GPS so you can track them every step of the way. They also use the same truck for the entire trip and I have been very happy with them. Their number is (954) 745-8938 and they can be contacted via email here:

Good luck with your move!

I am using Dependable Auto Shippers to ship my Audi from TX to OH. They have enclosed trucks and use GPS so you can track where your car is. There's also Intercity Lines, which only ships in enclosed trucks. They ship lots of show cars around the country. Don't forget to mention 6speedonline discount.

The reason i use DAS over Intercity is because I don't need enclosed bed for my DD.

Reliable Carriers

I used them to ship my M via enclosed trailer when moving from Phoenix to Detroit.
Great service and price, and not a single complaint.

+1 on Dependable. Have used them for several cross-country reloactions and they always do well.

I also used Dependable to ship my M 2500 miles from NorCal last year - no problems whatsoever.

Welcome to Washington: M Coupe Capitol of the world.

I shipped from Chicago to Seattle this past year. Open transport. It was 1/2 the price of enclosed and other than being exposed to the elements, not much safer from the research I did. In my opinion, not much more risk than driving it yourself in the elements. I was more concerned of fluids from other vehicles being transported, which is a risk in most multi-level enclosed units as well. Arrived fine, but a stressful process under the best of circumstances.

Just an FYI: 98% of your auto shippers are brokers, and contract out with individual carriers. You give them your dates and they take bids from individual carriers to get it done within those parameters.

Hope to see it out in the wild once it arrives.

Agreed with the open transport. I did some research and there's not much a difference between open and close transport, especially if you drive the car. You may also opt for the top bed to avoid the fluids matters.

Subscribing to this thread. I'll be moving to the west coast this year and will need to transport one of my cars. (Most likely the daily driver.)

How much do you guys pay for a ~2000 mile transport, and how long does it generally take?

I bet SoCal has us in Z4M's overall (coupes AND roadsters)... but all Coupes eventually come here. It's some strange magnetic field, or something.

This is a good point; and a big reason I went with Reliable. It's all their own trucks/drivers.

I paid $700 (IIRC) for door-to-door transport of my Civic on an open trailer. Just over 2k miles, and I'm sure it was done through a broker. The car arrived 6-7 days later and was filthy (inside too because the drivers window was down about 2 inches).

When I moved from AZ to MI (2k miles), I sent the Z4M via enclosed trailer through Reliable. I saved money by dropping it off at their Chandler, AZ facility and then picked it up at their Metro-Detroit location rather than having them come to me (each office was within 30 minutes of where I moved to/from). Price was about $1k, took 4 days, and the car arrived exactly as I left it.

Going forward with the move and decided to use DAS:
Enclosed trailor, top-load, 14 to 16 days transit time, reloaded during transport at least once, insured up to $50k for transport damages, drop-off and pick-up at closest terminal, mentioned "6 speed online" for discount, roughly 2,100 miles transport distance, $1260 total.

Based on the feedback on this threat, I went with DAS. Fingers crossed she arrives in the same condition as dropping her off.

I'm sure you're going to do this--pictures, lots of pictures of the car's condition outside, under, and inside before and while loading too. Hopefully you'll not need it, but it's cheap insurance.

+1 on taking lots of pics of your car before drop off. Also don't leave more than half tank of gas. I just had my DD delivered by DAS earlier this week. Excellent service and fast shipment. It arrived ahead of schedule.
