Haha whether or not the owner of the 458 is a decent driver or not, it's great to see that he/she is at least putting it to good use! Too many exotic car owners are missing out on the best part of ownership.

And to the OP, great driving. I enjoyed the vid.

Found the heater thing quite interesting. Definitely would have never thought of doing something like that myself. Just curious, what kind of temps were you seeing that made you turn it on?

That's sounds strange.

I have not had a problem with mine.

Have you tried claiming BMW warranty if you think it is defective.

Shouldn't cause damage from normal use.

haha true about taking the exotic to the track. I'd be scared to, just on a investment point of view :P

I blast my heater all the time while @ the track. Oil temps can reach over 210* F easily, especially on a warm day. And on a colder day? The heater helps keep me warm in the car; since the windows are always down

It happens though, accidental nicks here and there. Sometimes when driving spiritedly you can't control exactly where your hands end up on the steering wheel. I find that sometimes my fingernail nicks a small portion on accident =/

Mehhh, iono...that wheel looks slightly ricey/tacky. It'd be something I'd put in my MR2 (cause it's JDM so there's an acceptable level of riceyness allowed ), but in a classy BMW? I'd stick with the OEM steering wheel. Especially considering the price of that CF wheel. Geez...even if it were all CF, I probably couldn't justify the pricing

Based on his/her income, he/she probably has the same feeling as Z4M drivers that track their cars Must be nice. At least I've still got plenty of time to get to that level haha. One day, one day...

Good call on the heater. I guess I'm just not driving my car hard enough. When I tracked before I don't remember it ever going much past the center point.

yeah, it is a bit on the busy side. it would be nice if bmw performance made a wheel for us like they did the e9x series, screen and all

i'll probably just get my wheel rewrapped in suede when it gets too tattered

Ehhhh iono. I'd say keep it classy leather. Suede deteriorates quickly and gets all nasty from what I hear. Good grip for track use, but definitely won't last as long as leather.

I like the new performance shift knob. Anyone tried that on a Z?
