LED License Plate Lights

I went with LeatherZ's LED license plate lights. instead of just swapping bulbs because both of my assemblies were loose (spring clip bent out of shape) and one was intermittent. Here's the comparison with the factory halogen, I'm pretty happy with the cleaned up look:

More photos here: http://www.zeleznik-klein.com/z4/fix...led/index.html. Final result:

I had not seen this kit before, I need to go peruse LeatherZ's website again for the Z4 (last time I was there was with the Z3).

They came out good, but they do look very familiar:

although those things are ungodly bright.

I did not take the LeatherZ assemblies apart, but they do not appear to have nearly the number of emitters as those bimmian units. I can only imagine with 24 smds that those must be absurdly bright. I know it's hard to tell from the photos, but brightness of the LeatherZ units is above stock, but not ridiculously so.

Honestly Dave I would have to say that this may be a more preferable option. I feel as though I may blind some people behind me whenever I'm cruising down the road. It's bright enough to be visible on either side of the vehicle from the driver position.

I do not think anyone will be rear ending me any time soon however.

Good mod!

I've had these from E92-lighting for a couple of years now and I'm I really happy with them.

It almost looks like E92-lighting is comparing theirs to bimmian's and showing that they are brighter! That looks too bright for my tastes, although the price is nice. That final picture they have shows a wide swath of pavement behind the car being illuminated, again not what I would personally want. Kinda hard to tell from my photos, but the LeatherZ ones have a lens molded into them that directs the light onto the license plate with little spillover. To each their own, and if you're happy that's all that counts.

I honestly can't imagine that there would be anything brighter out there than the Bimmians... that's absurd, but kind of awesome. I guess if you're going all the way then you just gotta go all... the ... way.

Haha. I never really thought about it, but yep.
I just checked and they light a 6' x 3' swath of the road pretty well.

Garage List
I swapped over to OEM LED bulbs and found they light up just as well as aftermarket
