unfortunatly no lift, but i think i can get the stands and what not that we will need, im a little worried about the bleeding procedure though, is the car driveable without it being bled (sp?)? if so i think just doing the job and then taking it to that indie to get it bled might be the ticket...

If you're going to need to make a trip to an indy, just have them take it out.

^hack has a point. i've an indy i go to in san antonio off west 410 and considering the cdv delete itself takes all of 5 minutes to do, i guess they'd just charge u for bleeding the clutch (15 minute job). car is definitely drivable if u don't bleed the clutch though it isn't recommended.

^i'll ask my indy for a quick quote, hopefully it's not more than $50 (approximately half an hour's labor). the clutch bleed process itself requires unscrewing the bleed screw and having a separate person pump the clutch until normal clutch pressure is felt, rinse-and-repeat several times. thereafter u'd have to top up the fluid. the alternative route is a pressure bleeder which costs a bit.

^ramps should suffice. the cdv itself is located under a plastic panel that must be removed. i think u'll need at least a 17mm and 11mm wrench and a c-clamp if able. honestly, after swapping my cdv, there was hardly any need to bleed the clutch since we actually let the fluid drip slowly without using a c-clamp, but tt meant after the clutch pedal pumping exercises, that we'd to top up the fluid.

glad you got home ok. Sorry I missed you when you were in town, would have been nice to meet the guy behind the request to check out the car. Seems like you were in and out though, understandable enough.

i actually was going to call you when we got in but we ended up landing around 7 and had to start heading back home as soon as we picked it up. I appreciate your help so much! you looking at it for me helped me to be able to do the deal when i did. who knows, if i hadn't found someone to check it out for me someone might have swooped in and claimed it before i had a chance to take a detailed look at it!

It's no problem.
So, when do we get some pics? How do you like that wood trim in that bad boy? Have you found anything I overlooked? I hope not.

well there are pics on the first page but, i guess i can give you this one. Me and the M on our first stop in VA, maybe 15 minutes after picking up the car.
P.S. excuse the disheveled look, the plan ride to VA was straight out of the twilight zone with all of the turbulence! |

I LOVE the wood trim, when i looked at the autotrader pics i considered swapping back to aluminum, but i love it now, it really dresses the interior up. The only things i noticed is that the wheel trim on the left side of the wheel has a very small crack and the bottom trim piece is unscrewed which reminds me, i need to take care of that. Everything else is perfect! just as you described!!!

Congrats man!
I had wood prior to aluminum and wouldnt say wood was worse, just has different personality. Wood reminds you that you're second a luxury car and has that nice finished touch whereas aluminum gives it a sporty feel. |
