Need help with OEM exhaust muffler replacements

I'll start it by setting a baseline. On my E30 M3 I ran a Supersprint RACE exhaust from the stock header back. The sound it made was incredible. Yes it was loud and yes after two hours of driving the drone would drive you crazy. BUT there was no rasp sound at all.
To the M Coupe.. I have researched and researched and 99% of anything for the M Coupe has a huge RASPY sound at 3-5 RPM. It just sounds horrible. Is this something that is just an S54 problem or something else.
I lean to RPI's but most say the drone is horrible.
Supersprint Race is absurdly priced.
Stromung.. is a little quiet to me.

What am I missing guys. Help??

Stromung is a little quiet. But I think it's going to be your best bet for less drone. I love my stromungs. Yes I wish it was a little louder. But when I get on the highway I'm glad it's not louder. With the combo of headers seems perfect to me.

After changing from RPIs I too find the Stomungs a little on the quite side, but the tone is really good.
I have headers but need to get an Xpipe back on the car.

That may be a perfect combo. The xpipe adds some pops and burbles, and increases sound levels. An Eisenmann sport with a xpipe is perfect--without one it's a bit tame.

How's rasp with the Stromungs?

Why not Powerloops? I've got CSL headers, OE section 1, SS X-pipe and loops and the sound is incredible.

I've also entertained having the stock mufflers opened up and having the "Stuffing" taken out as that seems perhaps the cheapest route I've seen over the years. There's also a thread wandering around (I'll find for you, gimme a bit) with different exhaust setups so you can hear each.

Love my RE Diablos....going to remove the unmonitored secondary cats w/the RE s-pipe and remove the resonator x-pipe and install the RE x-pipe.

Eisenmann Race

My Eisenmann race cans are on the tame side with nice lower tone, but my exhaust is otherwise stock. I rarely drive with top up on my roadster, but don't think there is any real drone at all.

That was my plan but I decided to quit while I was ahead after the S-pipes.
They added just enough rasp, and I think I'm at the limit of social acceptability.
Don't want the neighbors circulating a petition.

If you decide on the Supersprint Race, I have a set I may let go for $800.

The car came with them, and it's a little loud for me because I also have CPI stepped headers, DKF s-pipe with 100 cell cats. My other M has SS V1 stepped, SS catted s-pipe, and RE Diablos... so I'd like at least one to be daily drivable.

I'm going to put out a feeler thread soon, so let me know via PM.

The dream setup:
.

Currently have SS race + both mid pipes and it's quite loud. Only catch for me is it takes away the stealth factor when flying around with an s54. Don't want those pokey to see me coming, but it sounds too good.

Very happy with Stromung but think this is like a discussion on what is the best music, no right or wrong answer and everyone has their opinion.

Not bad at all.
Not quite to Eisenmann standards, but very good.

And about 1/3 the price of new Eisenmanns.

And for me the tips are smaller than the Eisenmann, so no more melting of the bumper opening at the track.

OP - There is someone selling a pair of Eisenmann sport cans in the classifieds section, these should do the trick for you without breaking the bank on an axle-back setup.

Not to thread jack but how do the two compare? Louder/quietter, more/less rasp, drone, etc.

I can provide some details early next month. The volume is similar. Diablos sound meaner but with more rasp.

For reduced rasp I welded a couple cross beams onto section 1 to cancel out some vibration. I am not sure how much it helped because I did so many changes at once. I don't think I have any rasp. I run Euro Headers, Euro cats, OEM X, Jasma Spec Arqray.
