Exhaust Opinions
Hey everyone,
This is partially wanting advice and partially everyones opinion. What are the best exhaust options for a 2006 3.0i? I'm wanting to an upgrade, but what do I go for? Sport muffler? Quad exhaust? What? Thanks! |

There really is no "best": what are you looking for? Increased volume? Low rumble? Higher pitched exotic? What's your budget?
Give us a few of these and it's easier to make recommendations. |

I recommend doing headers first, then choose a muffler. Headers really open up the car, and combined with a race muffler it could be too much.

Well my budget is probably around 3000. I really want something that has a constant rumble, and I really like the pops from the muffler, but not like a fart cannon. Something kind of in between I guess.

Okay. Eisenmann makes some really great stuff, race and sport versions. Haven't heard one I didn't like on any BMW. Typically race has a bit of drone, sport doesn't. Remus also makes good stuff. Headers and a Eisenmann sport might be the ticket with that budget. Recommend doing one, not both and add on as needed as Pokey suggested. Trick here is going to be finding someone local to hear a combo first. You can do a search for sound clips (good place to start) but they never give the whole experience and never tell you drone level (subjective anyway as is sound).

Unfortunately you lose the cats as well. I have gone this route and have until Feb 2016 to find a solution. There are O2 simulators out there that so far at least on this forum are untested this is likely what I will pursue this coming winter.
