Coupe rear hatch release
Wow, I feel like i'm the only one that didn't know this. I just found the hatch release and lock on my 08' coupe, behind the emblem. I never realized it was the mech. release for the hatch. I've been using the interior button and key fob all this time. I've had this Z4 for 2 months now, still learning about this thing. What else can this car do?

While I think the hatch release is neat in operation, it is a pain in the butt when you have a passenger. Twice now I've tried to explain how to open the hatch to two passengers I've had. I've released the lock from inside, but you still need to push open the Roundel to get something to hold on to to lift the hatch. I think it is a stupid design overall.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

I agree!
I love that it hides the lock.

I love the hatch release. Took me two weeks to realize it was there. I found it in the owners manual while reading about that sport button I don't have.

Someone who has owned the car for 2 years? 3 years? just discovered the 3rd button on the key fob, as a result of a thread posted by someone who has owned the car for 2 months. I wonder what I'm missing on mine. |
