Ess Vt2-500 Comming Home Soon!!

Hey guys!,

I wasn't going to post anything until the car was back home, but I'm just to F'n excited First, I want to thank ESS and specifically Roman for great customer service and timely communication. The car is very close to being finished.....when I get her back home I will provide a thorough review to include video and Vbox numbers. My Z4MR is a ginny pig for VT1-445 and VT2-500 Gen 2 and was tracked at Vegas 2010 Mfest with very positive results. As soon as VT3 is ready (probably not this year) I will be ginny pig for that as well. I will keep everyone posted as I get more info. ESS is very busy, so you should call them or email for any info. This car is going to be FAST!! Thanks Roman

looks like I need to learn how to spell "coming" home soon

Collierville is about 30 minutes drive East of Memphis. ESS Tuning for the USA market is in Phoenix, AZ. If you ever get out this way, your more than welcome to see how the car performs ESS tuning is Top of the line for our cars. Check out their website as well at esstuning.com. Cheers

ooops! I didn't answer correctly..haha. I wasn't even thinking MPG because I don't care Although I have heard that MPG improves with a properly tuned FI system as long as your not hammering it all the time...that's not me I like to rag her out. I don't have the car back from ESS yet, but I can certainly try to figure a number for you. Cheers

Hey nice to meet you and congrats!

I met your car at mfest and bimmerfest, and saw it on the track. What a beast! I also noticed your zex kit.... what shot were you running and did you 1/4 mile it?

Hey Thanks!

I read your review about the ride You got me pumped and I would love to hear what you think it will feel like with the VT2-500. Man, I can't wait to drive her again. I have a 75 wet shot with all the goodies, but I'm going to wait for VT3 and then go direct port Well...we will see anyways My car had Nitto 555R Drag Radials...did you sense they put the power down? It's funny asking questions about my own car from someone else..hahaha. Cheers man!

fr8tdog: i'll be boosted very soon and am curious about supporting mods. i am mainly concerned about the gauges, i wouldnt feel exactly safe without a wideband and boost gauge but i am not looking to tear up the interior. whats your experience with gauges for this car and other supporting mods?

Hey Murder!

I agree with you 100%.. you need gauges for monitoring important stuff. I have a very nice custom guage panel from leather Z that sits where the ash tray used to be. I filled the 3 gauge platform with 52mm gauges consisting of a 52 mm Dynotune nitrous switch panel, fuel psi, and egt. On my A pillar I installed 52 mm wide band afr, boost, and nitrous psi. All my gauges are by Autometer except the nitrous switch panel. My A pillar has individual pods to hold gauges..but if you chose to get rid of those a new A pillar is about $70 from BMW.

forgot one....supporting mods for VT2-500= 0...nadda. You don't need a thing for this kit. Your stock clutch is more than sufficient and headers might add 10-15hp. I chose Drag radial tires by Nitto because they are a good balance between rain and dry....but when dry they hook great! I have NT 555R 285 Drags and they are wonderful. When I go to VT3 I will switch to NT05R which are like Mickey Thompson Drags....just crazy sticky, but not much life.

thanks for the info, my god i can only imagine how much of a beast your car is with n2o + FI.

i dont think i would get that ashtray piece only looking for 2 gauges; 1 for boost, and one for A/F ratio... possibly just the boost. anyways, did you make a custom setup using individualy pods mounted to your a pillar? or is there an aftermarket a-pillar with pods as one piece for purchase?

thanks again

Can't wait to see this, I definitely have a VT kit in my future!

Is the VT2 just a new pulley, modified tune, intercooler and new IC piping?

Cool username by the way I was thinking about schnell for my lic. plate..German for fast! Yeah...more boost, tune, intercooler. Vt1-445 doesn't have an intercooler, but according to reviews when my car was tracked in Vegas...not an issue. Cheers

Yeah, those NT05R's are amazing according to reviews. I was told they compete with MT's....Wow. My NT555R's are nice at 285, but you can still spin them. I heard they aren't great at the drag strip for whatever reason. On the street they get me going with very little slip

the thing with the 555rs is that they require alot of warmup time, you really gotta roast them for a good launch. sorry to polute your thread. possibly pics of your a-pillar when you have time?

I actually appreciate dynamics in a thread..so no worries there man

When my car gets home I will definitely post some pics of the pillar, gauges, VT2-500, video and Vbox. I will provide a detailed review for those considering this kit. I anticipate a pleasant surprise!
