ESS Software long term reviews?
I've been through most of the positive review threads on the ESS software.
It's very enticing Since this has been out for a while now I was wondering if we could get some feedback from those that have been running it long term? ALSO: From the data that I was able to find, I didn't see any data relating to A/F ratios. I've seen other tuning software that has some great improvements but the A/F ratio caused some long term concerns. |

^ i dont think ess would have leaned out the mixture to cause any worry. Most of the gains are probably from all other aspects of tuning, timing, ignition, vanos parameters ect and extending the working boundaries of the ecu. ie it not going limp after new mods or changes.

From all the good reports and no reported problems, you are probably right
Timing and ignition can impact a/f ratios though. I've seen it in the 350z and G35 communities. Since dynos have been done, it would be nice to see the a/f numbers as well. |

inTgr89r,
I am contemplating this mod also... But before I do it, I am taking the car to a HPDE event in May to establish a baseline from a stock chassis/drivetrain standpoint. |

HPDEs are usually a ton of fun
Our local chapter runs a few here at Mosport every year. ...definitely on my agenda. From running my M roady, I know it would definitely benefit the added bottom end torque. |

I have been running mine now for about a year and half and this includes 10 track days. Never once has it skipped a beat! I don't think I really ever drive my car easy either. Also put down 306rwhp on a mustang.

I didn't mean they didn't touch the a/f at all. Just saying they probably didn't lean it out once all tuned.

^ yeah, understood.
It speaks well that the software has been around for a while now and to my knowledge zero reported issues. I really appreciate F360C's results since his car is well & truly exercised; street & track. Still, it would be nice to see some before and after a/f charts. I've see tune plots that work great though the RPM range & then (for example) fall off @ or near redline. IMO, the a/f plot would be useful added data for the determination of a new redline setpoint. Last edited by inTgr8r; 04-06-2010 at 06:56 AM.. |

Also, looks like the original images showing before/after dyno charts of the ESS tune on a stock Z4M are dead. Would you mind reposting those for those of us newly inducted into the Z4M crowd? |

I did the scoop before & TBH didn't think it did a damn thing.
Maybe on the track, but on the street nada. ...or maybe it was my numb butt dyno.
