Low pitched whine - M Coupe
When the car is parked (not running) in a quiet garage, I can hear a low pitched whine originating from what appears to be behind the instrument cluster or near the radio. It is not a fan noise, but more of an electical humming/whining noise, and is not loud enough to be easily noticeable, but it's there and persists no matter how long the car has been turned off for. Any idea what it might be?

Your sure it's behind the instrument cluster? Mine does this from the nav DVD, and it's annoying as hell, the only solution I found is remove the DVD from the nav, it's next to useless anyways.

No nav on mine. It sounds like somewhere behind the dash, but I can't pin down the exact location it's coming from or what it might be.

I have had 2 Z4 coupes, and they both make this whine. Sometimes, it is more noticeable than others ... put the radio on, and it is difficult to hear. I have seen other threads where people have mentioned it ... on some cars, it may be much louder than on others. As to what it is ... I'd be interested to know too!
