Z4M roady @ T-hill w/ cyclone.
My best lap of the day w/ a passenger. laptime -- 2:14.35
06 Z4M roadster Stock except... Ferodo DS2500 pads ATE superblue racing fluid Star Spec 245/275 (39/38 hot) camber pins pulled I think I can improve the time a little more: 1) 2nd gear at T11 but heel-toe into 2nd is really pain in the butt. 2) better arch at T14-15 3) 2nd gear over T5 (???) 4) lighter braking or maybe just lift-turn-throttle at T8 (I always run out of guts here. I spun once at ~110mph right here) 5) need more guts and stiffer right foot on the throttle over T9. I keep missing the outer berm next to the big gutter. The cure is to carry more speed and it will push me there. Please feel free to give your input...

RE: 5a, I found PCA's driving guide to Thunderhill after we'd been to the track--nuts! It recommends 2nd, but as it says you pretty much have to get into 3rd "mid air" for it to be effective. I tried 2nd a couple of times into this turn and my noob brain couldn't deal with the amount of data to cope with over the top of that corner w/o losing a lot of speed (i.e., I didn't get into 3rd "mid air" ). I settled for 3rd and focused on my braking, line, and throttle. Things got a bit squirmy for me in 8 too a couple of times in both cars. I ended up braking lightly but thought I was just being gutless (or is that "cautious" ). Guide seems to have some suggestions there that are in line with your ideas...and some ideas for 9 as well. I don't know if it's useful for a more skilled driver, but I plan to try and follow some of the ideas out for specific sections next time out as part of a planned strategy. Can't hurt I'd guess. |

tks Finnegan! That is very helpful! I will be there in May and aiming to break 2:12 :P. I think I should be able to break 2:13 without a passenger easy. See you there in May!

Thanks for posting the vid! I'll be joining Finnegan and Skelekitty on April 1, and will be watching this over and over till the day arrives.

BTW, my buddy just sent me another "tutorial," link for T-hill.
Just skimmed it, but it looks fantastic. http://www.norcal-saac.org/ot/thillnew.pdf
