Gullwing on M Coupe?
Hello, i would just like feedback from any of you think it can be done. To me I think that the z4 m coupe looks like a bmw version of a miniature SLS AMG.
So it got me thinking, can the fancy doors on the SLS be done similarly on the M Coupe? Let me know on your guys' opinions! Thanks! |

With enough $$ anything can be done, but if it should be done is another question... Id agree with most and say no, but do what makes you happy, it's your car!

Of course it could be done, given enough time, design work, and money. To have it look OEM, function well and maintain the car's balance and structural integrity would probably cost many multiples of what the car is worth. Even with an exceptional job you'd most likely have a hard time convincing many that it was an improvement.
If you have a car you are willing to sacrifice, and the resources, engineering and fabrication capabilities to do it properly, go for it - it's your car. If you expect to accomplish this with a shoestring budget, a Harbor Freight welder and case or two of Bondo, please try it on an a Ford Fiesta or something first - see how that turns out. |

Thats not gullwing though. Gullwing doors would be hinged from the roof not the side of the body.

you're right. I guess one could say its gullwing stylish, although its more lambo stylish than anything. You really can't get a true gullwing as there is no door bracing surrounding the windows, plus you'd have to cut into the rood. But I think it would be sexy as hell if it was somehow done on our coupes. I could have sworn there was a mercedes that had doors open like the one in the video and was also called gullwing....I was wrong.

The Z4M looks nothing like an SLS.

I'd like to see one with gullwing doors just to see what it looks like. If you come near *my* car with a torch though I'll castrate you.

there are no window frames on the z4 coupe, wouldnt that be extra prohibitive?
