Door unlatched on its own?

Ran into an unusual problem today. Driving along with all the doors locked, then hit a minor bump and I heard a pop and then air whooshing in. Looked down on my dash and saw the "door open" light on. Appears that the bump somehow knocked the passenger door loose...it's still latched, but not shut completely. How can the door pop loose (unlocked) like that? Anyone ran into this issue? Thanks.

I was riding passenger about a week ago and noticed it didn't sound like the door was closed all the way but I figured it was just poor sealing and I didn't hear it because I am usually in the driver seat. I opened it and slammed it shut but I could still hear a little wind. It was definitely not open enough for the dash light though.

Mine was definitely popped open. The window would not shut all the way and the door rattles over bumps. After I pulled over to check it out, the door was indeed unlocked itself somehow, similar to when you close the door, but not completely shut (there's a gap between the door and the rear fender).

It happens once in a while.

I had it happen on the Roadster more than once. Had to adjust the striker about a 1/16". There is a couple of threads on here about this.

Thanks...I just found Rabid Panda's post on this. I'm just wondering how adjusting the striker would help. If the door is latched and locked, I don't know what can cause it to get bumped it out of place. Did you move it more toward the car or away from the car?

Is this (attached picture) what you're referring to as the "striker"?
