Anyone Replace Resonator With X Pipe?
Wondering if anyone has done this while keeping the oe muffler? Any change in volume and/or drone?

Resonators, or mufflers?

Resonator: I wouldn't expect any significant change in back pressure from this mod and I would think that any change, if there is one, could be compensated for by the ecu. My interest is to increase the sound level of the exhaust without adding any interior drone (which the coupes are prone to with their large rear cargo area).

I have a resonator delete. I originally had a remus muffler w/ resonator delete. I can't tell a change power wise with either setup. The exhaust sounds slightly louder w/out the resonator at idle (may just be me though)

honestly, there was slight droning at low rpms with an aftermarket muffler but I got used to it. High rpms was fine as I had an intake to even things out. no drone with oem muffler.

I believe that "tech" could've have not been a tech and possibly a sales person? Deleting a resonator would not significantly change the amount of backpressure. All the resonator does is change the exhaust tone by removing harsh resonance from the exhaust note. Now doing THIS WILL make you lose torque and power. You'll most likely notice the loss of power on the lower end of the rev range. |
