GruppeM any good in a hot environment

Hi, I live in the Caribbean and the temperature is always high. Most of the time is in 81f- 100f and I have heard some rumors that this intake does not work properly in hot weather. Any help will be ugh appreciated.
Thank you!

I would imagine you'd get a decent amount of heat-soaking from the engine bay...even in moderate temperature.

OEM Filters have proven to yield the best performance.

The "COLD" part of the cold air intake is really misleading. It should be classified as "better sounding and possibly slightly more air flow air intakes".

A thin piece of metal or plastic isn't going to do anything over a stock air box in bringing in colder air OR prevent the heat of the engine from affecting air termperture.

I was in love with the sound the GruppeM made, but I guess I'll have to stick to the stock....

IMHO, it might be an issue if you spend a lot of time stuck in traffics! I have the Afe (w/RPI scoop) and the Intake Temp usually only 2-4 degrees F higher than ambient temperature when i am cruising. Obviously it goes up as i stop or slow down in traffics but not anything alarming (plus i dont feel the car's performance suffer at all). Once i started to move, It usually took seconds for the temperatures to drop back down i. The majority of the air should come from the front of the car anyway.
Sure, the OEM airbox is very well designed and probably as good as it gets (i have the Afe just for the noise). However, i dont think it does a significantly better job at prevent heatsoak (maybe at a slower rate than aftermarket metal boxes)
By the way, i am using OBD bluetooht module with Torque for Android to monitor/log the information. I was thinking of re-install the OEM airbox and do comparasion tests but i am too lazy to swap them out (maybe i could find someone local and log his/her car instead.

Don't stick with stock, go GruppeM! The sound is worth the price, and the change in performance is only noticable if you drive OEM and GruppeM back to back, unless you are super picky. I'm getting a tune done soon so we'll see how it all comes together...

With a proper tune you will get same or slightly better (not really noticable) performance. That said, there's not many people who can tune our cars properly.
