Hazards come on when I lock car occasionally

Hello all!

More recently when I use my key to electronically lock the m coupe it will lock the car and flash the hazards, leaving them flashing for awhile. It requires me to unlock the car, and put the keys in the ignition and turn the ignition on to stop the hazard lights.

I don't believe my key has been coded, but I can lock my car with one press (both doors, and unlock only the driver with 1 press) which seems like normal BMW key coding.

Any thoughts?

If you had the factory alarm it would be going off on its own too.

Yep seems like it needs to be replaced every 3-4 years

Seriously? I'm on the original at 10 years. Do all Z models have this, and without an alarm, what is its purpose?

All I know is I just replaced mine for 2nd time and bought my 07 brand new in Jan 08. It always states off with hazards coming on initially during unlock/lock, and eventually leads to siren going off randomly.

FWIW the exact same thing happened to me about 3 years into ownership.

The hood sensor is the cheap plastic button that can be pushed down, right where the strut towers braces meet at the firewall? Is there a name for that thing? I believe I need to replace mine.

Not all have it.
It only is installed with factory alarm.

My 07 didn't come with factory alarm.
I installed it later and installed the hood switch that came with it.
