non-lowering springs for Z4MR?

Need to replace shocks, going with Bilstein HDs. Was thinking of replacing the springs as well but don't want to lower the car, maybe just a 1/2 inch but no more. So, what are my options? Should I just keep the OEM springs, I didn't mind them that much except for the lift on acceleration. Do springs go bad, i.e. should I even consider replacing them with OEMs?

Car is DD.

Thanks!

Eibach springs only lower 0.5"-0.75.

Keep OEM, the dive is from lack of compression dampening in OEM shocks.

Thanks, I could live with a 0.5 drop all around, but seems weird to have the rear 0.25 lower than the front - which is what these springs do, right? I'd think it makese sense to have the front lower than rear....

Anway, I'll keep this on my list for now....

Thanks again!

That's not for front or rear. Just average drop height. The eibachs retain factory level I believe. I would just get coil overs instead of shocks and springs. Same price in the end and complete adjustability.

According to eibach's website:

Front: 0.8 in
Rear: 0.4 in

This is actually not too bad....

Thanks!

I think coilovers are overkill for the average person that is looking for new shocks and a tiny amount of drop unless they really want a certain amount of drop.

Besides the adjustability (and who really adjusts them after the initial setup?) what is the benefit when comparing properly built shocks and springs to properly built coil overs? Also, don't you also have to get an alignment each time you adjust them up or down?

I agree. I've had ten, yes TEN, coilover set ups on my M. I haven't met a set yet that I find livable on the street. I thought the best I had was TC Kline, Double adjustable, set full soft at all times. I've had issues with the bearings in the Camber plate not holding up though, and I'm sick of the D/A noise in the front shocks. So, I'll be going BACK to springs and shocks.
