Because I set automatic search and notification email.
I have a saved search with keyword 'BMW z4' and run it time to time to see if there is any good deals. That's how I found.

I couldn't believe it when I saw this listed for $1000 buy it now with best offer.
At that price shipping cost is not really an issue.
Needed little courage to send him best offer because someone else could just click on the buy it now button while I was waiting for his counter offer. Anyway I offered him $500 then he counter offered $700.

A week later, the top is in my garage waiting to be painted.

I also won two side lock covers and wrench from german ebay for about $100. so...

Keep looking at german and UK ebay too. Maybe you can find someone who is willing to ship to US at good price.

Good Luck.

That is a great price. I actually had a local guy who wanted to sell his top asking $2700 and did not go below $2300. I almost bought it but decided to wait for better deal and my patience paid off eventually. For $1500, it's still a steal IMO.

After I finally adjusted mine it was awesome in the cooler weather. Car looks good with it too. Found mine about 2hrs away, top all the covers, wrench, and the hard top cover for $700. Need to buy a stand for it.

Finally, I got my hardtop painted and installed. Sorry for the long wait. It's been almost half a year since I bought it. I had to wait for this long because, I've been waiting to open my own body shop!!!

Finally, I own a body shop now and had my guys to paint it. I took out everything from the top (don't do it unless you are going to be very careful) and gave the shell only to my guys. We actually had paint technician came to our shop to train my guys for proper use of their paint. They used my top for demonstration.

They look awesome anyway. Not as good as coupe but much better than soft top closed. (I like it a lot when the soft top is open though)

Just had my detailer to give it a quick wash and polish. The color looks awesome especially during the sunset.

Looks great! I'm also not a fan of the look with the top up, the cut is a little to severe in the back. And my softtop is 8 years old, so thats no helping things...

Of course, I'll take the roadster with the top down over the coupe any day of the week. I think the higher tail and the way it slopes up to the cockpit is perfect, much better than the e89 lines.

Really nice! Given our weather, you will now want something to help with removing it easily. While I have done it myself on a few occasions, it really is a 2 person job. Unless you use something like this...
